Salvage Africa is calling on young Nigerian entrepreneurs to apply for the 2022 kick-start programme. The programme which is funded by Ford Foundation and FIDO is open to businesses at idea stage requiring startup capital to kickoff as well as existing businesses looking to scale their operations.

Salvage Africa, the implementing partner for the Kick-start programme is a  pro-Africa non-governmental organization whose mission is the liberation of Africa socialy, economically, and politically through programmes, partnerships, community advocacy and field works designed to bring about lasting positive change.

PROGRAMME ELIGIBILITY

  • The grant opportunity is open to Nigerians who reside and have their business domiciled in any of the country’s thirty siz (36) states as well as the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
  • Candidates must have a valid form of identification and be at least 18 years old and no older than 40. (e.g. National I.D; Drivers License; International Passport or Voters card authenticated by Beverified).
  • Candidates must be ready to devote all of their time to operating and managing their businesses.
  • Selected applicants are expected to be able to read and write.

CRITERIA FOR BUSINESSES

  • Legally residing and conducting business in Nigeria
  • New companies in need of startup money
  • Existing small enterprises in need of funding to scale operations
  • Also encouraged are joint ventures that add value to the business.
  • Innovative commercially driven ideas that have a positive impact on the Nation’s economy.
  • The project’s commercial and technological viability must be credibly demonstrated in the proposal.

KICK-START PROGRAMME RULES

  1. Young entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 40 who reside in and conduct business in Nigeria are eligible to apply for the programme.
  2. Salvage Africa’s employees and their immediate family are not allowed to participate.
  3. Applicants are restricticted to a single business entry.
  4. Applicants who do not receive a response from Salvage Africa 20 days after the application deadline, should consider their applications unsuccessful.
  5. Salvage Africa reserves full rights and ownership of all materials (imagery, videos, etc) produced from the programme, and can use the applicant’s story for communication without paying the applicant anything for as long as the Kickstart programme is in operation.
  6. Candidates selected for the programme must devote their full attention to operating and managing their firm.
  7. All decisions by the judges are final.
  8. Salvage Africa has the right to issue media releases, publish competition winners, use photographs, and do follow-up interviews.
  9. The Federal Republic of Nigeria’s laws will govern this competition, so it is the applicants’ entire obligation to make sure they abide by all applicable legal and regulatory requirements as laid forth by the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
  10. Upon selection, the applicants consent to having their company’s development monitored for a year.
  11. Upon commencement of the KickStart Program, entries under the “Business (product or service offering)” category cannot be altered.
