Youth Green Skills Accelerator Programme Overview
The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), through the youth green skills accelerator programme, are giving youths the opportunities to share their ideas. They are extending invitations to youth-led groups and organisations to submit innovative ideas geared toward the provision of support in the move toward environmentally sustainable societies and economies.
Both organizations appreciate the leadership that young people have shown in their crucial role in the advancement of climate innovation, even in the midst of the COVID-19-caused jobs crisis.
To this end, the ILO and the IsDB have created the “Youth Green Skills Accelerator Challenge Call” with the main purpose of boosting youth engagement and skills for green occupations for a just transition in order to help young people further translate their activism, passion, and creativity into action.
Invitations are being extended to youth-led organisations, networks, or coalitions based in the IsDB – ILO common member States to submit fresh, creative concepts and proposals that give youths (15-35 years old) residing in the common member States the skills necessary for promoting an effective transition in their local communities.
The Youth Green Skills Accelerator Challenge Call is, therefore, seeking solutions that address one or more of the following key areas, drawing on the resources and expertise of the ILO Skills Innovation Facility:
